Representative Work

Tim has developed a reputation as an innovative strategist who resolves civil disputes for his clients through litigation, mediation, and a number of other alternative dispute resolution forums as a member of the firm's Advocacy Group. He utilizes his Engineering background to bring a wealth of expertise to all manners of litigation with a particular emphasis on Energy and Construction matters. Tim encourages creative solutions to complex and challenging litigation problems in an effort to provide prompt, practical and cost effective services to his clients. He has particular interest in the following areas:

  • Advising clients on strategic approaches for the resolution of large, complex, multi-party disputes
  • Construction Litigation representing design professionals, contractors, and project managers in a multitude of construction related claims including complex building/construction/design deficiencies, property loss and delay claims
  • Energy Litigation including oil and gas property disputes, business interruption claims relating to drilling operations, well workovers, pipeline and facilities claims, and environmental contamination
  • Corporate and Commercial Litigation including contractual, commercial, and shareholder disputes
  • Claims where engineering background and extensive engineering and construction industry contacts are of assistance
  • Catastrophic Personal Injury and Fatality Litigation arising out of industrial accidents, motor vehicle accidents, and occupier's liability incidents

Profile

Tim has appeared as counsel before all levels of Court in Alberta, other Western Canadian Provinces, as well as on leave applications at the Supreme Court of Canada. Tim has extensive experience with large, complex multi-party litigation and is frequently involved in the resolution of claims through a multitude of forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Tim has the unique perspective of having worked both as a design and field engineering consultant prior to commencing his legal career and has a particular interest in cases involving design professionals. Tim has been recognized by Lexpert as a leading lawyer in the areas of Professional Insurance, Product Liability, and Commercial Insurance. He has presented papers and lectured on a number of litigation topics before a variety of industry audiences.
