Representative Work

Ken understands the adversities experienced by clients in business and has the practical knowledge that enables him to anticipate and prevent some of these situations. He resolves business and corporate related issues for his clients using a multi-faceted approach that draws experience from a number of Business Law Groups within the firm. Ken has a particular interest in the following areas:

  • Bank financing including the negotiation and execution of loan arrangements for both lenders and borrowers concerning real estate lending transactions, loan restructuring and mortgage enforcement
  • Commercial leasing for landlords and tenants concerning lease transactions involving office, industrial, retail and ground leases
  • Commercial real estate including purchases and sales
  • Negotiation and drafting of contractual arrangements
  • Developing strategies for clients concerning the purchase or sale of a business 
  • Development of commercial and residential land parcels including office buildings, major shopping centres, industrial properties, and residential developments
  • Incorporations, joint ventures, partnerships and franchises
  • Preparation of wills and estate planning
  • Advising clients on estate implications of re-marriages and common-law relationships
  • Management and protection of estate assets through the establishment of trusts for spouses, children, and grandchildren
  • Advising executors or corporate trustees in the administration of trusts and estates
  • Dispute resolution and problem solving of inter-party organizational and operational disputes including negotiation of and implementation of reorganizations
  • Sale or purchase of businesses;
  • General corporate law

Profile

Ken practices general corporate/commercial law and has experience in a wide range of corporate matters as a member of several Business Law teams within the firm. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, participating in the Wills, Estates and Trusts Section, Business Law Section, Real Property Section, and Commercial Tenancies.

He has lectured on behalf of the Law Society for the Bar Admission course and given numerous seminars for both professional and private groups. Ken has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Real Estate Law.
